I agree with you. I don't like the way that the new guy made all the recent movies. They left out detail that is really important for the fifth movie.

POA was so confusing to me when I first saw it, but now, IT'S MY FAVORITE OF THE FOUR!!! I love it mostly because of the patronus scene. That was fantastic. He said the words with such force and actual emotion that I was blown away. It was so good. Everytime I watch that part, it gives me goosebumps! That part along with the ENTIRE soundtrack...I just love it. The fourth was good to me, but not that good. The soundtrack was better.

The first two movies really stuck to the book, so they were very good, but not my favorites.

Yes, that's true, but ah well. I'm nervous to see what they do with OotP seeing as it's the largest book. I read they plan on including a wizards' chase around London. *shudders*

I'd have to go with Prisoner of Azkaban, but don't get me wrong, GoF was a great movie, I just enjoy the storyline in PoA better.

But GOF... I was bored watching it in the cinema, was very disappointed, and I've only watched it once since I got it on DVD. It's not got that re-watchable quality
I wasn't bored watching it in cinema for the first time, but eventually came to realize that it wasn't as good as PoA. But I do agree wholeheartedly.

But part of that quality being lacked in GoF while watching it again on DVD may also come from the fact that I bought the DVD with no features.

Prisoner of Azkaban for me. It was the one most unlike the book so far and most of the character portrayals were in shambles but the storytelling was much more artistic and beautiful than all the others and that made it better to watch. I want them to get that story telling style but still keep the characters in character and I think they will finally have a moderately good movie or good compared to the books I should say because GoF was a good enough movie in and of itself.

Cheers

POA for me too. I like the story and the action with the Trio. GOF was not so trio friendly.

POA all the way for me. I watched it four times at the cinema and found a new angle to enjoy it each and everytime, and when it came out on DVD I bought the 2 disk edition and downloaded the entire soundtrack onto my ipod without a second thought. And I think that is really how I judge my movies now - rewatchability. If I can only stand to see a movie once and not think about it again, I will not bother to and will not buy the dvd when it comes out, though I did buy GOF which I hated, but only to make sure my collection was complete.
POA is just timeless ( forgive the pun ), and I think will be one of the few movies in the HP series that will remain watchable as time passes and sooner or later the new versions will be filmed.

Rewatchability is definitely high on my list of what makes a film good. I didn't like Chamber Of Secrets, but I can watch it over and over. GOF is a stronger film than POA, but isn't bravely adapted and doesn't have that special something that POA has to make me watch it again. In fact, the only part of GOF I would watch again is the graveyard scene, which I thought was fantastic.

What new guy? The screenwriter has remained the same for all four movies. POA & GOF had different directors. I don't see who you're talking about.

I liked all the movies, but out of all of them, I enjoyed Goblet of Fire the most.

Goblet of Fire for me. I particularly loved the Yule Ball scenes (but not the bit where Hermione demands that Ron and Harry go to bed - who is she to demand that they do that?!). Prisoner of Azkaban would have been my favourite had the film not been so rushed (I was left rather disappointed that the Firebolt was introduced right at the end of the film and not at Christmas time as it was in the book).

POA. I loved how the movie looked. I liked how it was pieced together. Gary Oldman made it very good too.

GoF, PS and CoS were too cheesy, PoA was okay, but they invented too many things. Liked the darker style though. GoF has great scenes. However I will never be a big fan, I just miss my favorite moments. Know that they are only subplots, but still miss them. One thing I did like about GoF was the extra scenes for Neville. He is great.
