The future of Dolores Umbridge

JKR stated that she will bring Umbridge back in book 7 (because she is so much fun to torment). What do you think JKR has in store for Umbridge?

Whatever it is, I hope it's something horrible and painful. I can't stand that character!

Seriously, with her tendencies, I wouldn't be too surprised if she cropped up on LV's side in book 7. She's just such an evil character and it def. suits Voldemort to have supporters within the ministry. So that's my guess, she'll be a Voldemort supporter.

I don't think she'll become a death eater. I think her character is there to show us that, as Sirius put it, the world isn't devided into death eaters and good people. She's definitly among the evil non-death eater characters.
But I do hope something horrible would happen to her! Or something that'd make her hate half-breeds less, like Lupin saving her from certain death.
Or even better - maybe she'll be bitten by a vampire of a werewolf! Or both!

nooo, she's evil enough as it is.She would truly cause chaos if she had even more power to back up her nasty personality. Personally I hope she's stuck in an office with no window , counting paperclips..or the magical equivalent. I know I won't get my wish though!

Well, Rowling also stated that No new Characters will be introduced, so I can only assume, she'll be a teacher.

In a way I hope that it helps harry (whatever she does) and in another sence i hope it doesnt than Harry actually has to say thank you to that women!

Umbridge is a horrible woman, i can't stand it when she makes Harry write lines. Maybe she'll replace Dumbledore, I certainly hope not

*shudders* I don't think so. McGonagall's headmistress now, and we can be fairly sure of what she thinks of Umbridge from the way she behaved towards her in OotP. I highly doubt it she'll hire someone she dislikes so much. That's the advantage of running a place - you can determine who you work with!

I'd like to add that JKR said there'd be no new *major* charaters. There could be new minor ones

It would be nice to see her forced into admitting that she was in the wrong and had been all along. I don't think that she can be reconciled with Harry because - well she's just hideous isn't she? . I can't see her ever developing enough humility that Harry could forgive her.

I don't know if I would forgive her even then- whatever she does, I'll think its some evil plot I suspect she'll just reurn in some Ministry position where she is humiliated a lot by Harry

I really hope that first she'll be fired from the Ministry. Then, Maybe she'll appear in the Daily Prophet as being in a Dementor Attacki. If she's lucky, Voldemort or a Death Eater will torment her with the Cruciatus Curse. Even better, when Harry finds a horocrux, there will be many barriers, like the potion that weakened Voldemort. He might use her as a human shield or poison tester. Of course, there is always the possibility she will become a "filthy, half-breed" werewolf. I hope JK Rowling torments her really well.

I think she is going to wind up having a complete mental breakdown and the next time we see her is in a bed between the Longbottums and Prof. Lockhart at St. Mungo's.

I see her interfering with Harrys search for the horcruxes and trying to find out what he is doing. (for the Ministry, of course). Harry will now be an adult and make sure she has a VERY difficult time.

Dont shoot me for saying this (and there would be one very nasty letter to jk if this even happened), but maybe she will be useful somehow. I mean not only has she worked at Hogworts (*worked*) but she was very high up in the MoM. Im sure, in her years, she has come across some info that could be even slightly valuable, to both the order and Voldys side. Obviously, i dont want this to happen, but otherwise i cant think of how an apperance in book 7 would be useful to anyone.

I imagine she'll be around 'assisting' Scrimgeour with the war effort and all the chaos around the Ministry. I'm sure some sort of poetic justice will be dished out along the way, but she won't be either a Death Eater or help Harry.

I'm thinking treatment similar to the kind that Rita Skeeter has in store for her. For Umbridge it'll most likely be related becoming a werewolf, or being soundly defeated by one or another 'creature'.

Then again, she was already defeated by centaurs and given the poetic justice and legends surrounding what happened at the end of OotP (being carried off by centaurs), it's already been done. She'll probably just be a background character.

I do hope Ubridge doesn't come back to Howgarts (I keep my fingers crossed) and so, I guess she will be an important character because she is at the Ministry and now that Voldemort is out and Dumbledore dead, we will see much more of the ministry activities
