Dumbledore's patronus. Originally I wanted it all white, but I did some research and found out that all white tattoos end up loosing their colour and turning brown very quickly - So I decided the patronus blue would be better with white highlights.

After seeing this thread, I would absolutely love to get a HP-related tat, myself, if I ever get up the courage to do it.

I think i'd like to get "Always" on my shoulder, specifically, since it has such a beautiful meaning, but am debating whether i'd want to include a doe patronus, or something else with it. I haven't decided how fan-girly I want to go yet...

Right now I have a few quotes I am considering and I would want it in Adobe Garamond (the font used in the books).

I'm just trying to think the best placement for 10 or so words.

I would love to be able to post a picture of my HP tattoo but as it runs all the way down my ribcage from armpit to below my hip, I don't think I would be able to find an appropriate one.

It says "I solemnly swear that I am up to no good". I would like to get "Mischief Managed" on the other side at some point.

I'm going to get my second tattoo tomorrow, it'll be my first HP themed one. I plan on getting the three asterisks that are at the top of every page of the American editions. I thought it would be a nice small tribute to the series I love so much, and it's something that is on every page of every book, so it's really about the series as a whole. What do you think? I'll post pictures as soon as I get them!

Yeah that's a really cute idea. It's small, and easy to hide if you need to, but it means something important to you Those are my favorite tattoos.

How did you decide on the image/words you used for your HP tattoo? What sources did you use to get inspired? Now that you have had it for awhile, what would you change (if anything) about it?

I really want a HP tattoo, but I cannot figure out what to get. I've had so many ideas, but nothing that I'd want to put on me... :/

I absolutely want a Harry Potter tattoo when I turn 18! I'm um, only 14 and a half but I've been thinking about getting a word and maybe a lightning bolt on my left hip for a few months now. I absolutely know I won't regret it as I've been a fan for about nine years and I will be for the rest of my life. My mom, also a huge fan, says I can get it for my high school graduation present. I have alot of time to think about it, but which one do you like best?

I'm the same age as you and i think if i ever get a tattoo (if that ever happens ill probably be about 20) it will probably be 'Always' because every time i've read that sentence or seen that scene in the movie i've teared up. It has such a beautiful meaning and really sums up my devotion to Harry Potter (Plus people will only be able to tell it's HP related if their a fan of the series themselves).

What I would advise you do is re-read the series with a tattoo in mind. Put little bookmarks here and there when you find something be it a quote or even a description of scene that is meaningful, emotional, or just interesting to you personally. Then go back and look at what you've found and consider the possibilities of making it a tattoo.

When you've narrowed it down, keep those images in your mind and around you for a long time. Say if it's a quote, put it on a Post-It note on your mirror so you see it every day. Or if it's an image, put it as your desktop background. Just use this to make sure it's not something you'll get sick of in a month!

The quality of the camera sucks! It's a cell phone pick from a few years ago. But this is my tweaked movie style Dark mark tattoo. I had more shadow added to the skull, with the idea that large chunks of the bottom part are missing.

I have a question about these dark mark tattoos. Was it ever mentioned in the books which way the Dark Mark is facing on the Death Eater's forearm? I always thought that when you're looking at the Dark Mark it's supposed to be facing you and looking at you. However, in the movies the mark is placed in the opposite direction with the skull looking down the forearm and away from the Death Eater, and I see many fans getting it this way as well.

I'm not sure whether it actually mentions which way it is in the books. I think maybe it's done that way in the films as it is easier for the viewers to see it clearly. Though of course, this could be how it's supposed to be.
I actually always imagine it facing inwards, so you can see it the right way yourself. Hmm.

I'm not sure about the Dark mark, but it's my understanding that tattoos are always meant to be the right way for other people. No one gets Mom tattooed facing them. Then it'd be Wow. lol. I've always assumed it's with the snake dropping down towards the wrist.
