Re: Harry Potter Video Games

I played through The Sorcerer's Stone for ps1 the other day (guess I was bored), and I noticed that David Byrne was mentioned in the credits, under special thanks. I just wanted to know what he had to do with the game/games.

Re: Harry Potter Video Games

I completed Deathly Hallows Part 1 the other day. It was ok, but certainly not one of the best HP games.

Harry Potter Lego is the best videogame ever, bar none

Recently started playing the Philosopher's Stone PC game, what the hell is with those gnomes! Annoying.

I've forgotten about the gnomes. PS is my favorite of the Potter games. Unfortunately it won't work on my computer.

Harry Potter MMORPG

Greetings,

Rumors have been flying around about a Harry Potter MMORPG in the making,i've been searching the internet for some proof but without any luck.My personal opinion is that an online game set in the HP world would be really great and perhaps different from most games,so please give your thoughts on this.

Cheers,

GoF for PS2 was a joke, in my opinion.

How would a Harry Potter MMORPG work? I don't think it's possible.

I wish that the developers of the latest HP 'game' had waited and made a proper RPG in the mold of Oblivion rather than the ambomination we've unfortunately been sold. How good would it have been to be able to stroll around London as Harry with Ron and Hermione at your side without the walls and the annoying invisibility cloak?

The 5th and 6th games gave me so much hope. Well, the 6th wasn't that much of an improvement, but there wasn't much that much that they could do. There's still hope for a proper HP RPG game because it's such a big franchise, but it's unlikely that it will be in the works anytime soon.

There haven't been any official HP MMOs announced. Don't quote me on this, but I believe at one point the idea of an HP MMO was being "investigated" but if I remember rightly those plans fell through. Until there's an official announcement that one is in the works, it's better to assume that there isn't one being made in the foreseeable future.

I do, however, think there were some MMO-ish projects that were fan-created. I don't remember their names and I don't know whether they're still going, my guess is probably not, as interest in the HP universe has waned.

What do you mean? I think the opposite, it's actually not too hard to mold the HP universe into an MMO-friendly format. Instead of character classes you pick a wand type, which determines what kind of magic your character is best at. Instead of "quests" there are "lessons" (basically quests given to you by teacher NPCs). Quest lines culminate in "exams" which take the place of boss fights. Choose your house, choose your blood status. Graduate from Hogwarts and join a faction (Ministry vs Hogwarts Staff, Order vs Death Eaters).

Buy brooms, elves, flying cars, invisibility cloaks, magical eyes. Fight Dark Lords, hunt fantastic beasts, find magical artifacts. Fly, apparate, ride thestrals, play Quidditch, trade Chocolate Frog Cards, etc etc etc.

I'd play it.

PS is the best PC game EVER! It took me so long to finish it, when I was like 10. I had all of them up to GoF and completed them all. I'm such an idiot for selling them! The Harry Potter PC games are the only reason I wish I didn't have a Mac...

Does anyone remember the Game Boy Color Philosopher's Stone game? I have over 30hours of play time on my slot. I still haven't found one of the wizard cards (I'm still searching!). I'm pretty sure it'll turn up one day. The Game Boy Color games were amazing, I think they only made the first 2 (I only have those two, anyway), but still, they were worth it!

I have SS and CoS on GBC...never did beat SS, but CoS was the best thing ever. I loved fighting things!

I seriously said "Omg" out loud when I saw the battle footage. This could be what we see in the actual movie!

Re: Harry Potter Video Games

I have played
PS on the Playstation
CoS on the Playstation 1 and 2 and also the Gameboy Advanced
PoA on the PC and some of it on PS2
some of Ootp on the PC

But I do love the first 3 games because as someone had said the realism doesn't really translate that well into a game format and seeing how PoA made everything like the movie but still had that cartoonish spice into it made it one of my favourite games. I also loved the first two games on the PSX I remember being my 11 year old self that I played CoS on the PSX for the whole day and clocking it. That game was better than its predecessor and I loved duelling as well "GET READY.... DUEL!!" -casts Flipendo 438573857389 times- "EXPELIARMUS!!"

Re: Harry Potter Video Games

I remember how frustrated I felt with the prisoner of Azcaban game where Harry had to save Sirius from the Dementors. It took hours for me. It was still one of my favorites. I have them all. I barely have played the Deathly Hallows game. I don't like all of the quests. Really disappointed.

Re: Harry Potter Video Games

It is really disappointing how bad the Harry Potter games are...one would think they would try to rise above the other movie-licensed games, but no...

Only Lego Harry Potter, not done by EA but by an external team, is good.

Re: Harry Potter Video Games

A Harry Potter MMO would be cool, but it would have to be done extremely well. What I think would be really cool is if they based it around the time of the Founders, where you play as one of the original students under either Godric, Salazar, Rowena, or Helga.

The four houses would act as four different classes, With Gryffindor acting much like a tank, Hufflepuff a healer, Ravenclaw a buffer, and Slytherin a status inflicter. Each of them would also have their own form of DPS. Each "year" would unlock once you accomplished certain prerequisites and would give you new and stronger spells.

The premise of it would be that the castle of Hogwarts is only half finished, and not yet protected against the outside forces, so it is the duty of the more skilled and powerful students of each house to protect the school and go on missions outside the school to do things that the founders need done (i.e., perhaps some alchemist in France is working on some new spell which would be useful for Hogwarts, but a Dark Wizard is after him, so you have to go and save him and his research, and bring him back to Hogwarts, before the Dark Wizard gets him).

I think it would work really well as an MMO. Heck, I think it would work well for an ordinary game if they did a whole lot of work on it.

True, but a guy can dream, right? Doesn't it sound like a cool potential video game? Plus, if J.K.Rowling were in with it, it would be a great way of showing some of the history of the Founders.

Re: Harry Potter Video Games

You know what would make the Part 2 game excellent for me? (Although it won't happen probably)
Is if they put in some sort of online features. And I don't mean just sharing scores, I mean as in a deathmatch 'battle' feature.
If any of you have played a game such as CoD, or Uncharted 2, you'll know what I mean. Except without guns you can have different spells and potions etc.
Players can be split into 2 teams, Deatheaters and Snatchers and Students and OoTP members. Then it is an epic battle played around the castle.
I'm sorry, but would that not be totally awesome? To be a student, roaming around Hogwarts castle in the middle of a battle taking out other players and deatheaters?
That would be by dream game.
