Re: Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter v.2
I liked him when he had shaggy hair in goblet of fire. I think the biggest plot hole is what happened to his hair :P

Re: Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter v.2
exactly...I think the fact that his hair didn't stick up in the back was more annoying than the other factors that changed about the movies from the books. Come to think of it, his father's didn't either. What was up with that? Didn't they have gel on the set?

Re: Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter v.2
Tom Felton used all of the UK's gel supply in the first 3 movies

Re: Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter v.2
They definitely got it right with Daniel as Harry. He is how I imagined Harry would look like and behave. Harry is a very gentle soul, given his upbringing. And I find that Daniel brings that to the character. His reactions, his soft spokenness. Personally, I think his eye colour is irrelevant.

Thats too funny. I dont think Dans hair or anyone elses matters that much even though it does bother me too. I wish his hair stuck up and eyes were same as lillys but its not realivant to the actor.Dan is a great actor and is still learning and improving. The new trailers show that he has gained soo much sense starting. That is very important in an actor. Some people are too dramatic with his mistakes. It fits his character! Harry is such a sweet and awkward kid like Dan. He is hot too lol. |

Re: Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter v.2
Yeah don't get me wrong. I couldn't imagine anyone else in the role. He was a perfect fit for Harry and I think his acting was awesome in the role from the beginning and has continued to reflect the Harry in the books better than any other character has done with their portrayals, imo. He is mega consistent. The hair sticking up was just something so relevant in the books that I wish they had included - but it is merely a 'make up' feature and unimportant to the overall tale.
Now the eye color of the Mum they selected and the person they picked to play Harry's father mattered to some degree because he was supposed to resemble his father a lot and have his mother's eyes. And Sirius did tell him that he looked 'incredibly like his father' in POA - which wasn't exactly true when we saw the father . So we just have to suspend our disbelief a bit and pretend they look a like. And we have to pretend that something about Harry's eyes resembles his mothers (not necessarily the color - it could be the shape) since Lupin told him that as well as his resemblance to his father was striking - but Harry's eyes and his mother's eyes are different in the movie, so we just have to pretend.

I think that the idea is that Sirius knew James man and boy so he was well able to comment on Harry resmbled his father. Lupin was also commenting on Harry's personality as well I think.

Re: Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter v.2
Radcliffe IMO isn't a great actor but he's a perfectly capable Harry. He was perfect in the first two movies.

Re: Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter v.2
I think he is a fine actor and as for Potter, I couldn't imagine anyone else in the role at this point. He pretty much made the character come to life, imo.

I have been wondering about this, too..... For one, why didn't they just use Dan himself for 'young James' in the 'Snape's Worst Memory' flashback? Dan isn't that much younger than James is supposed to be in those scenes. They could have given him slightly different glasses, a different hairstyle, and somehow make sure that he looked a bit older ... wouldn't that have worked much better? The kid who played James there looks nothing like Radcliffe's Harry. I am also not so sure about the older version of James. He looked pretty plausible in PS, but although it was apparently always the same actor he looks very different now, and his hair doesn't even seem to be black. That seems a bit odd? Anyway - I think Dan Radcliffe is impressive. It can't be easy to grow up with a role like this, and to improve as an actor while doing it. I have found him incredibly level-headed and intelligent in interviews, ever since he started doing PR work on his own. Very impressive, IMHO. I hope he can shake off Harry Potter once DH is done and get a nice career for himself.

I can't think of anybody else playing Harry! But i do think the last movies aren't as good... i think that he's still really good! And he looked like how i pictured Harry, especially in the first four movies

Re: Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter v.2
He's okay. He isn't the greatest actor, though. One of the things that I don't like is the way he acts when Harry's scar hurts. It seems way too fake. But I can't think of anyone else who could play Harry, since I have become accustomed to seeing Dan on that big screen.

Re: Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter v.2
I think Daniel is a great actor, and he is close to how I pictured Harry (sure, he doesn't have the aforementioned hair-sticking-up thing and green eyes; it's not TOO big a deal for me, though). Is he the world's best actor? No. I'm not saying I think his performance in the films are like, Oscar-worthy, but I do think he's very talented. I heard that he was fantastic in Equus, and what he was capable of was better shown in that show than in the movies.
Basically, I'm glad they cast him. I think there's something really endearing about him, personality-wise, too. Personally, I've always found him to seem very sweet and never got an arrogant vibe. Last edited by ravenclaw_bway; March 12th, 2009 at 8:49 pm. |
