Re: Could Trevor be a Death Eater?

Aww, this theory would make me sad if it were true. Not only have I grown to like Trevor, but I don't think it would do much for Neville's self esteem to find out that his most loyal friend of 5 years was just using him to get into Hogwarts I don't know if Toads actually have the capacity for loyalty, but that's not the point :P All that time hanging on to Trevor, worrying about him when he disappears, only to be betrayed like that... *pout*

But seriously, Crookshanks would have spotted him ages ago.
Oh yes, that's a point. Crookshanks has quite an accurate nose for evil doings

I just can't see him being anything but a toad.

Re: Could Trevor be a Death Eater?

I think the only reason that neville continually loses trevor is too emphasise the clumsiness and forgetfullness of his character.
trevor is not a death eater and Voldemort will have no use for him.

Well, the Order hadn't reformed when Harry first met Neville - and Trevor - and Trevor does disappear an awful lot. Of course, this could be taken to mean that there is more to him, but on the other hand he's not keeping too much of a watch on them.

Well, if he is an animagus (*sp) he could very well be. We may never know!

I don't think that Trevor is anything other than a Toad. If he is an animagus than he would have revealed himself by now.

Re: Could Trevor be a Death Eater?

Yes, people have speculated about Trevor as animagus a lot. My pet theory is that someone will steal Trevor and try to use him to make a new Basilisk. You know, from a chicken's egg hatched under a toad.

If he is an animagus, he could report it! Or, if he is a Death Eater, he could be trying to do this himself.

But if Peter spent 12 years as a rat, imagine how much worse it would be to spend 16 as a toad! Still, I dunno if we can say JKR wouldn't do this. Compared to one registered animagus, we now have three unregistered Marauders plus Rita! But even if he is an Animagus, I'm hoping he is not a Death Eater. I'm rather fond of Trevor, based on nothing at all.

OMG, what if Trevor is an enchanted Prince? (Snape's uncle, for instance?) Will someone have to kiss him?

hahaha.
ahahahaha.
That was nice, I liked that.

But no, I think the unregistered animagus thing has played itself out abit, don't you?
That would also fall under the "Snape is Fawkes" thread thing...

Re: Could Trevor be a Death Eater?

While I love the attachment that comes with this thread...

I have to agree with the lot - too much plot repitition, and too little evidence.

Would that be the half-toad prince?

Seriously, if Trevor were a DE, I think he would have escaped Neville permenently and run back in GoF or the subsequent books.

Re: Could Trevor be a Death Eater?

I think Trevor's point has already been made. I think he was there in the first book to show that Scabbers wasn't the only pet. Basically, he's like an interuption to Ron's spell to turn Scabbers yellow. An indication that the spell not working is a clue.

Has Trevor actually been mentioned much in the later books? Anyone have quotes?

I remember the time Neville brought him to potions class, but that's all I can remember. Of course the description for Umbridge reminds us of Trevor - but that might also be because the DA (anti-Umbridge) gave Neville his confidence...?

I just cannot see Trevor as a DE since Neville did not have him as a pet when he was a baby. Wasn't he given to Neville as a reward for getting into Hogwarts? There's no reason for a DE to suddenly go into hiding in '91.

Everything we've seen Snape do, was done knowing Voldemort WOULD return someday.

And when that day would come, that he had better have the appropriate memories that would enable him to lie to Voldy's face.

No way, he just wants to find a lily pad on a pond somewhere and croak to his hearts content.

Maybe he's is an animagus Death Eater. Maybe he's Snape. And if you kiss a toad he turns into a.....Prince.

Re: Could Trevor be a Death Eater?

I think that Trevor was there on the train in OoTP, when they first met Luna. It was one of the scenes where Harry was really embarrased in the presence of Cho.

Re: Could Trevor be a Death Eater?

Apologies if this has already been mentioned, as I have not read the whole thread.

But if Trevor was an animagus, then the Marauder's Map would have made this clear. "Say, why is Regulas Black in the Gryffindor common room?"

Re: Could Trevor be a Death Eater?

Yeah, this is a pretty frivolous thread. Still, if his name really was Trevor Longbottom...you know, from a branch that broke with the rest of the family a couple of generations back...then he wouldn't stick out on the Marauders' Map. Chance of Trevor really being a Death Eater, I'd say, is under 1 percent. Chance of Trevor being an animagus at all, under 5 percent. But it's still fun to think about.

Re: Could Trevor be a Death Eater?

I came into this thread thinking that it was a joke. Still can't believe that somthing like this would reach 4 pages.

My opinion is that the unknown/unregistered animagus plot has about reached its full potential. And Trevor hasn't been given any major parts yet, like Crookshanks in PoA. He's just a toad that likes to make a break for freedom when Neville's not looking. Sort of a comic relief.

As Dumbledore says, sometimes, a mouth-organ is just a mouth-organ.
