Re: Do you prefer the books or the films?
Books.
I would never value the opinion of any person who chose the films over the books.. |

Re: Do you prefer the books or the films?
The books without a doubt. They are more in-depth, more detailed and really capture Harry and everything about the wizarding world so well. The films, I see as a treat, as a compliment to the books. I think the books like the main course, and the films are just the deserts!

Re: Do you prefer the books or the films?
The books of course
I mean, the movies are good, but they remove too much away from them. You never get any details. But all movies based on novels or something are like that, and I think the movies are really good, just not as good as the books ![]()

Re: Do you prefer the books or the films?
The books. Not only are they much more detailed, and they don't have a time-limit to restrain them, but without the books there would be no films. And I like imagining how certain scenes would be played out, it's like making my own movie right in my own head.. with the characters all looking like I want them to look and none of my favorite parts get scrapped. Don't get me wrong, the films are decent and all, and I love them, it's just the books are 100% better for me.

Re: Do you prefer the books or the films?
I would have to say the books hands down. However, when reading, I like to imagine the movie characters saying the lines and acting out the scenes.
What I usally do is watch the movie then read the book, watch the next movie and read the next bosk, etc. -JR

Re: Do you prefer the books or the films?
The books of course!! Don't get me wrong, I ADORE the films, but the books were the first, the original, what started it all. There is SO much detail and so may quirky subplots that the movies just don't have time for. The books contain little moments that the movies don't. I'm a huge movie person, but IMO when a movie is made from a book, the book is always better.

Re: Do you prefer the books or the films?
The books are much better, as I'm sure most people agree. There is so much more time to explain the story. For example, in the most recent movie, we see one Quidditch game, and while it was beautiful, we never actually learn who wins the Quidditch Cup. That was important, but it had to be left out.

Re: Do you prefer the books or the films?
Books. No question. Theres just so much more in the books, the books are, in some ways, a lot more to do with the WW while still concentrating on Harry. But the movies are primarily concerned with Harry and we get very little of the smaller characters eg, Mundungus, Bill, Charlie, even characters like Ginny and Neville.

Re: Do you prefer the books or the films?
The books is better without a shadow of a doubt. Not like the movies are that bad but they're more for the times when you're lazy or don't have time to read the book. But the movies can give life to certain things that isn't the same in the books. But in a long term comparision the books win without even breaking a sweat.

The books. They simply cover more ground and give a richer story.

Re: Do you prefer the books or the films?
The books. The movies are good for what they are, but the books include more characterization and subplots that simply couldn't be included in the films because of time constraints.

Hands down the books, I will admit that because of Alan Rickman I will watch the movies more than once.

The books. They cut off too much important stuff from the movies.

Re: Do you prefer the books or the films?
Silly question...the books, most definitely! It's so easy to picture everything Jo writes, down to Florean Fortesque's last toenail.
And in the books, I can revel in my favorite characters not being cut out, as well. I understand a lot of the cuts they had to make to the movies, but it is difficult to see poor Neville reduced to a sentence.

Re: Do you prefer the books or the films?
I like the movies, but compared to the films they are nothing!
The detail in the films is astounding and you can imagine eveything! The movies give you that, and some on the things in the movie are not how i imagined them at all. I think it spoiled what was in my head a bit. Also I don't like how off the films are in places. They are very good though! Trying to get such complex stories into such a short space of time. Xxx |

Re: Do you prefer the books or the films?
Definitely the books. They're much different than the movies; not all the actors always fit the description of a character in the book, which is very hard to achieve though. Also the movies are shortened. They probably must be but I still hate when they cut out the scenes I liked.
