Re: What cuts from OotP are you upset about?

They should not have left out:

The two way mirrors, Kreacher's hoarding and Mundungus' theiving, Ron's Keeping, Ginny's Seeking, Voldemort's vulnerability when facing Dumbledore at the Ministry, and Dumbledore's wisdom (especially “Indeed, your failure to understand that there are things much worse than death has always been your greatest weakness”)

In general, I found the film to be somewhat shallow. I think the powerful themes were glossed over and oversimplified. I think some important connections needed to be retained, for example, the real reason Fred and George go out with a bang is to run interference for Harry so he can contact the Order about his vision, not to have a bit of fun. I recall thinking that this book showed the characters becoming more committed and serious about doing their part to defeat Voldemort and this film just seemed frivolous in comparison.

Confusing changes: Why can't they wear robes anymore, and why isn't Harry's hair messy anymore, and why doesn't he seem to even have a scar anymore??

Little things that should have appeared in order to add depth to the whole series of films: the locket, the two way mirrors, the fake galleons the DA used

Of the things that appeared in the film and should have been followed up, Kreacher's betrayal was the most important. I mean, honestly...

I really would have liked to see Quidditch, Ron in Quidditch robes, Marietta's face with 'Sneak', more of Kreacher, etc. There are many things that were cut which I would have liked to see but I understand that some things have to cut from the book. I liked the movie so I don't really have much problem with it.

Yep, they just can't afford to cut out any of the random wondering around that they do from about September to December, can they. That would just upset the movie by not having in unescessary things.

This whole movie was so rushed through, did anybody else notice that this is the shortest movie of the series so far, I hope that they don't chop the last ones up and rush them like they did this one.

Snape's Worst Memory! They had it, but only for like 5 seconds.
I was really looking forward to that...

i liked it. the only bit i am upset about is that the relationship between dumbledore and harry doesn't come across as close on screen where as in the books they are very close. the film made me laugh.

Re: What cuts from OotP are you upset about?

Quidditch, Snape's Worst Memory, Dobby, Cho and Harry's date on Valentines Day... there's quite a lot i'm upset they cut out (yes, i know it's hard to make a film and keep everything in, but I can still be disappointed if I want to :P)

But what upset me most was how they killed off sirius. He was never hit by the Avada Kedavra curse. He fell through the veil and that was how he died. They made it out so he died before he fell through the veil! That wasn't they way it happened!

Also, this film went REALLY fast!

Ron on the Quidditch team. and they cut out Sirius and Bellatrix's duel! they were originally gonna have it but they cut it out cause they thought it wasn't necescary. and I agree Lily Ravenclaw, the film did go fast. There wasn't quite enough dialouge to help explain things. The movie was pretty choppy. Not as bad as GoF though.

Longest book, shortest film........where's the logic in that?

Since GOF i havent bothered taking the films seriously anymore, they just feel like a mess.

Actually, we don't know either the colour of the spell, or the name of it that she fired. And (assuming that it was the AK), she could have been having a bit of poetic licence.

And anyway, in a movie, you need to show that a character is truely dead, and if an audience sees the death being done with the same name and colour light that killed the person in the last film, and been seeing through out the film in flashbacks, then it shows that the character is truely dead, rather then them thinking that he's just gone through, and will be up in a second to fight again.

Yeah, I totally agree with that. That scene was one of the most emotional in the books, when DD says, 'of course you care'. it's also kind of the start of the deeper relationship between them which becomes more developed in HBP - Harry's ability to question him and not to worry so much about getting angry at him.

I was also annoyed about all the suspense which was cut over Arthur's attack; in the book when they spend the entire night drinking butterbeer and saying nothing cos they're terrified about what's going to happen. That was totally gone in the film.

Also Snape's worst memory, that's one of the most powerful scenes in HP, realising that james and Sirius were very much so far from the angels we'd been led to believe.

Spoiler: show
and also we know now that the scene becomes more important in DH; the cut of Lily from OOTP film was daft; how are they going to have her in the DH film?

Re: What cuts from OotP are you upset about?

I agree with anyone who said that the twins' departure could have been MUCH better than it was. I got the feeling that the movie was just trying to get that scene out of the way and continue on with the story - especially when Harry got that Sirius vision in the middle of all the cheering students. So much for celebrations.

St. Mungo's would have been beautiful to include. The film was rather rushed though..one second Mr Weasley was bitten. The next, he's at the table at Christmas and feeling all right.

I would have LOVED to see the different rooms in the Deparrtment of Mysteries, most of all, the Brain room and the Time Chamber. The bell-jar with the bird inside was something I really wanted to see...but alas.

Most definitely SWM. I can't for the life of me understand how they cut out Lily when she's important plus it was really short. Just really disappointing.

Re: What cuts from OotP are you upset about?

All the cool rooms in the Department of Mysteries, that was my favorite part of the whole series, the Department of Mysteries and they pretty much cut the whole thing except for the death room (which they didn't explain at all) and the hall of prophecy (which looked sort of cheesy). Urgh. But I still loved the movie, I get over things pretty easily...

EDIT: Oh and I forgot about St. Mungo's--- I wanted to see all that stuff but they cut it out completely.

They might as well have cut out the entire battle finale with such a pitiful job with it.

Probally by doing a flashback in HBP showing Kreature stealing the locket, where audience members will understand the significance of it by the end of that movie.

Re: What cuts from OotP are you upset about?

Dobby! I missed him in GoF where they gave his lines to Neville and they actually did the same in this movie, where Neville is the one that finds the Room of Requirements. As they didn't show Dobby and his willingness to come to Harry's aid in the last two movies, I'm becoming really afread that Dobby will not make a return in any of the next two movies. Which would really be too bad.
