Good Day Everyone,

I'm sorry to say that CoS Forums is going to shut down in the Summer, sometime around July. This isn't an early April Fools joke either.

The Forums have become quite expensive to run and manage. There's a lot (LOT) less traffic coming to the site these days as Harry Potter becomes less of a topical debate for people.

I held on for a while after the last film, wondering whether JK would announce anything surprising, but I find that even if she did it wouldn't serve to help the diminishing numbers on the site or my bank balance!

Myself, I've been absent a lot more in the past year as personal issues have taken over and I've had to work longer hours, to earn more money to keep the forums going as well as pay for things like rent, utilities and god knows what else.

Some of you will be sad and I'm sure others will be happy. I'm not doing this lightly and I could have closed the site last year but held off. I know this may upset some of you who've come to see this place as a haven with friends and I'm very sorry it has to go but I've kept this place going with money out of my own pocket for 10 years now and it's no longer financially viable to do so. Please understand that this is not an easy decision!

Some of you may wish to offer to help, to donate or even take on the site. Whilst I would listen to any suggestions, I will not accept donations as this would be unsustainable in the long-term. If you wanted to take on CoS, be aware that you would need to find $200 per month and to be honest with you all I'm not sure I'm prepared to let the site be taken over by anyone. I've created a thread for comments. The other staff know only as much as the above. There is no Plan B as far as they are concerned, so do not pester them for answers to questions. If they do not know, they are being totally honest.

Many thanks to everyone who for the last 10+ years have worked in one way or another on the site. All the staff, past and present who gave their time and energy to making the community work. Every single person gave their time for free and were never paid for their efforts. It was a labor of love for all.
Many thanks to the members, those who came & went and dared to stay. Every single one of you who contributed to the site, to the discussions and events. You were the ones who made the site what it became, from the all the book releases to the heated, sometimes famous debates about all sorts of topics. You made CoS what it was. So thank you.

yeah, not a whole lot. i hate rereading books, so just the fact that I have is a testament to how good they are.

COS: 5-6
POA: 2 1/2 (I only read half the first time)
GOF: 2
OOTP: 2
HBP: 1

I have read books 1- 4 six times. I am currently reading OOtP for the 6th time, and then I will read HBP. I am pacing myself this fo around so when I finish HBP, I can pick up DH.

PS/SS: uhmm at least four i know that
COS: four or five
POA: four
GOF: three .. this is my least favourite
OOTP: seven or eight .. this is my favourite by far .. i always re read bits of it if not the whole thing
HBP: around seven or eight also

The fifth and sixth are by far my favourites ... they are the longest and just the most interesting to me. I'm sure when Deathly Hallows comes out that one will get re read more than any of the others , then I will re read the series start to finish again i'm sure.

I can't remember exactly. I believe I've atcually only re-read a few of them because I'm usually really busy and it takes me a lot longer to re-read HP books. I am a book worm and am always reading so whenever I want to re-read HP I want to finish a book first. Like now, I really want to read the 6th book again but Im stuck with another book that I really want to finish. I am just a slow reader unless I am reading a new HP book, a really really amazing book, or I am on vacation.

PS: once, SS: 5 times, SS Audio book: twice
COS: twice, Audio book 4-5 times - it's on my iPod, so it gets repeat play.
POA: US twice, UK twice
GOF: twice
OOTP: 5 times, plus the Audio book 3 times
HBP: 4-6 times, plus the Audio book twice

That is what I can recall anyway.

I was a late bloomer when it came to Harry Potter, my best friend acutally read all the books and I would give her a hard time for reading them, I was never really into reading, so when the movies came out she dragged me along after I saw the movies I thought wow this is Awesome but I still never read the books. Up until last year I went on ebay bought the whole series and ever since I was hooked I have read the whole thing twice and read GoF and OOTP 3 times OOTP is my fave! Now I read all the time Thanks to JK for making such a Wonderful Series!

I used to have Harry Potter reading marathons with my friends. We'd go right through the series as many times as we could or we'd take turns picking a book. So I've read some of them lots of times.
