Band Geeks

Hey, calling all band geeks!! I love being a band geek. I'm in my school's Wind Ensemble and we have so much fun. We're sending in a tape for the Midwest Clinic this year. I hope we get in but they got in when I was in eighth grade...so they might not be so crazy about that.
So what instrument does everyone play? I play the clarinet and I LOVE it.
Let's discuss our crazy band geek stories!!

Re: Band Geeks!

I can play the Guitar and I am really terrible at it. That's about it.

But otherwise, I have no illusions of forming a band. Better leave it in the capable hands of those who make beautiful music.

I play alto saxophone. Well, I used to in the school band. Now, I am home schooled.

Re: Band Geeks!

I am a proud band geek! I am and 8th grader playing drums and I love it! I've also played the piano for 8 years so I'm pretty good at that too.

You know how in the fourth hp movie there was a band playing? I wonder if hogwarts really has band geeks. I hope so because the world needs more band geeks.

I'm also a mathlete, so lol!

Check out weird Al Yankovich's song White & Nerdy! It's awesome!

Odd, I'm a mathlete too. We call it that at our school too.

I know, White & Nerdy is awesome!

I am proud to be a band geek! I play the clarinet.

I'm also a choir geek. I had a solo in our choir concert today.

DefyingGravity2: Is your username from the song Defying Gravity from Wicked? I was just wondering. I'm going to see the musical next summer.

Re: Band Geeks!

Yeah Band GEEKS. I'm in marching band as well as the wind ensemble and I play the trumpet. I'm going to switch to baritone in the near future but its just trumpet for now. I also sing in choir and in the select vocal ensemble, so i guess im a music geek and not just a band geek. I also act so I'm a thesbo.

Re: Band Geeks!

what are some of the pieces everyone has played? we play a lot by stephen mellilo...I love him. He actually conducted our all-state band this year and he was AMAZING. I learned a lot. He's crazy though - he's written like 941 pieces of something. He barely sleeps.
But if no one knows who I'm talking about....then never mind lol.

I'm not a mathlete...we don't have that at our school. But I'm in science olympiad, which is close I guess.

Re: Band Geeks!

Awesome thread idea.

I play trumpet. I've been playing it for 6 years now. I played tuba too.

I love playing in the band. Not only is it fun to play an instrument, but the people in band are really nice. We have a ton of inside jokes.

Re: Band Geeks!

Currently I play alto saxophone in my school's band. Our band is very good size considering how big our school is. We moved down to a 3A school this year...and I overheard a some other band members from a different school whispering amongst themselves as we lined up for awards..."Are they a 4A...surely not a 3A?" So yeah.
And I play piano.
Very little guitar, also.

Re: Band Geeks!

grade 8 piano.
alto sax in my school's senior orchestra.
I played tuba two years ago, a bit of baritone at the same time.

I'm debating learning percussion, oboe or flute next semester.

Re: Band Geeks!

My concert was on monday. We were really good. Everybody got the parts that they were having trouble with, and we blended really well. To anybody in my band (although nobody's really a hp fan, so they wouldn't be on this site) Good Job. We did really well playing Charlie Brown Christmas!

Re: Band Geeks!

I have to say that band is way better than orchestra!! primarily because band people have so many inside jokes..many of which are very perverted haha.

I believe bank geeks were seen in a whole new light after the American Pie movies came out.
